Корнієнко Руслан Володимирович

Ruslan Korniienko, studied at the Industrial Biotechnology program, graduated in 2023.
Now I work at Lubnypharm JSC as a laboratory technician (promising engineer-technologist for the development of pharmaceuticals), Lubny.
Since high school, I have been interested in biology. I have repeatedly participated in district and regional competitions. And at the stages of learning this science, I learned about such a specialty as biotechnology. In my opinion, biotechnology is a new key to solving many problems of the modern world. Thanks to biotechnology, it is possible to grow plants that are resistant to external conditions, to produce modern medicines that are in some aspects even better than synthetic analogues. For me, genetic engineering is a ticket to the future.
When I entered the university, I imagined biotechnologists as specialists who had knowledge in various fields. A biotechnologist is a symbiosis of a microbiologist, chemist, geneticist, pharmacist, engineer and other specializations.
In general, my expectations were met. We consolidated the knowledge gained in the lectures in various practical classes. The only thing I would add to the learning process would be some kind of various debates between students themselves or between teachers and students on various biotechnology topics. This is necessary for students to be able to successfully defend their professional opinions after graduation, using their knowledge.
As I said earlier, I like biology. And strangely enough, I remember the classes on narrowly focused biological topics the most. Lectures on microbiology and pharmaceutical biotechnology are extremely interesting. I would especially like to mention the genetics classes. I learned a lot of interesting and new things from them.
I would say that the knowledge I gained during my studies is still relevant at my place of work, despite the fact that I now work in a pharmaceutical production facility that makes synthetic drugs. But fortunately, biotechnology is a broad specialty, which even now helps me in many aspects of my work.
